Portland Zoo

Last week the kids spent seven days with my parents up in Salem while I was at girls camp and Jason was at work. On Saturday as soon as I got home from camp and took a shower we got in the car and headed up to see the kids. We decided to make a long weekend out of the trip and spend a day in Portland at the zoo. It was a great time, and all of the kids did really well.

Here is Phoebe in the petting zoo. She was the only one who was brave enough to go in.

Paxton and the Asian Bull Elephant. Most zoo's only have one bull elephant. The Portland zoo has six. They have to shuffle them around all day long to different areas, it's a huge job.

At the Sea Lion tank, the huge sea lion was being pretty active in the water since it was such a hot day. It's amazing to see them move their bodies underwater. It was so fun to watch.

Phoebe waited all day to so the Giraffe. I was only able to get two pictures before he went inside. At least her attention span is short, so as soon as she laid eyes on him she was satisfied.

We had a great day at the zoo. We were able to see tigers, hippos, polar bears, and black bears. Birds of prey, wolves, fruit bats, and tons of other interesting and beautiful animals. We'll have to go back as soon as they finish the new lion exhibit!
